Anchored in the heart of the Sister Bridges, Shore Thing is a floating destination where our riverfronts come alive. For 2026, Riverlife intentionally created a robust calendar of programs – bringing together live music, movement, creativity, conversation, and community in ways that invite everyone in Pittsburgh to show up exactly as they are.
We believe that public spaces should feel inherently joyful, and that culture shouldn’t only happen after dark. To bring this vision to life, we are teaming up with incredible local partners. This season features everything from wellness sessions with YogaRoots On Location and Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation, to outdoor exploration with Venture Outdoors.
We’re also thrilled to partner with the August Wilson African American Cultural Center for jazzjAM, a brand-new Saturday morning jazz program — with cold brew and breakfast bites from BG Brewing. It’s part of the Shore Thing Performing Arts Series presented by The Charity Randall Foundation.
For Diamen Green, Riverlife’s Program Coordinator, this season is about redefining how we spend our days on the water.
“I’m aiming to shift the current from nightlife to day-life,” says Diamen. “We want the riverfronts to feel vibrant and full of energy from sunrise to sunset. Our programming is intentionally designed to provide both an exciting activation and a meaningful connection to exceptional people and places.”
Whether you want to dive into a community book discussion, challenge a friend to a board game, or simply sit back and enjoy a sunset view over the Allegheny, we have a spot saved for you.
Riverlife will host more than 70 free events and experiences on board Shore Thing this summer. Here are three ways to stay up-to-date on our programming:
- Bookmark shorething.riverlifepgh.org/schedule/ on your browser. Our schedule is currently published through June, and there will be more events on the way.
- Sign up for our weekly Shore Thing email newsletter. It will keep you up to date on Shore Thing’s programming schedule, plus links to register for popular events like yoga and kayaking.
- Follow @riverlifepgh on Instagram and Facebook, where you’ll see what’s On Deck for programming and events throughout the season.
If you’re wondering what to do this summer, just look to the shore. Pittsburgh’s rivers are for everyone, and we can’t wait to welcome our most important partner… you!
