All Aboard: What to Know Before You Float

Share

July 1, 2025

Shore Thing is officially open, and we can’t wait to welcome you aboard Pittsburgh’s newest floating riverfront hangout! Whether you’re coming for the views, the vibes, a program, a picnic, or the beer, here’s everything you need to know before your visit.

Hours of Operation

Tuesday–Thursday: 3:00–10:00 PM
Friday–Sunday: 12:00–10:00 PM
Monday: Closed (most of the time—stay tuned for special events)

For everyone’s safety, we may need to close the platform temporarily in the event of lightning or severe weather in the area. If skies start rumbling, we’ll ask folks to clear the platform and reopen as soon as it’s safe. Please check our socials (@riverlifepgh) for the latest updates when weather’s iffy.

What to Expect

Entry is free

You don’t need a ticket to come aboard. Shore Thing is open to all.

Food & drink are optional, but let’s be real…

No purchase is necessary to enjoy the space, and you are welcome to bring your own food or non-alcoholic beverages with you, but once you see the menu from our friends at BG Brewing, you’ll probably want to stay awhile.

Be cool to your fellow barge-mates

This is a shared space. Please treat others, and the platform itself, with care and respect. Disruptive behavior may result in removal from the platform.

Kids under 15 must be accompanied by an adult

We love hosting families! But for safety, unaccompanied minors must be at least 15 years old to board.

See something? Say something

Our staff is trained to handle emergencies, but let’s all do our part to keep this space safe, peaceful, and fun.

Watch your stuff

We’ve worked hard to create a secure space, but Riverlife is not responsible for lost or stolen items, money, or jewelry. Keep an eye on your belongings.

Capacity is limited

It may feel roomy, but this is still a barge! We may pause entry during peak times to ensure safety and comfort for everyone on board. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Weather happens

If there’s lightning in the area, we’ll need everyone to vacate the barge for safety. Our crew will let you know when it’s safe to return. Thanks for rolling with it!

The Fine Print (but still important)

Shore Thing is accessible and designed to be enjoyed by all. That said, we do have a few rules to keep things safe and serene:

No smoking (including e-cigarettes)
Service animals only, please.
No swimming or fishing
No bikes, rollerblades, or scooters
No running
No weapons

We built Shore Thing to bring people together—on the water, in the moment, and with community in mind. Thanks for helping us keep it safe, welcoming, and just the right amount of weird.

See you down by the river.

Bites. Beers. Barges

Backyard favorites with island flavor all served with an amazing view.
