Jake Barney (They/Them) known by their stage name: Senseishun – is a Queer, Non-Binary, Filipino artist, activist, and DJ hailing from Pittsburgh, PA.
They started spinning records in 2009 after being heavily influenced by the local rave and renegade scene. Over the years, they have evolved their style to be more Open Format. They pride their self on their ability to take listeners on a journey through sound, utilizing a plethora of different genres and styles; from deep melodic House to gnarly Drum & Bass to Hip-Hop, Emo, R&B, Pop, and everything in between.
After a few year hiatus, they returned to DJing in 2016 and have now played at and organized many successful dance nights at Pittsburgh’s most noteworthy clubs & venues. This includes popular local spots like Spirit, Brillobox, Club Cafe, and Cobra – as well as larger stages in front of massive crowds like The Pittsburgh 5K Marathon and the Main Stage at Pittsburgh Pride Revolution Festival.
Most recently, they locked down a DJ Residency at Club Cafe with their friend and business partner Tony Resch (aka Royal Haunts) and will be hosting monthly dance nights there starting later this year. Moving forward, their goal is to play shows and festivals across the country both solo and with their drummer, Jordan Bosland. Together, they are Villainous Tempo, and they are the 2025 National Champions of the Crash the Decks Drummer/DJ Tournament.
