“Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.”
― Lao Tzu
Autumn is a masterful teacher, reminding us that change is the only constant. Join Emily Balawejder aboard Riverlife’s Shore Thing for a special autumn mini-retreat that honors the season’s wisdom as we close a summer of yoga floating aboard this beautiful platform.
Every action can hold meaning if we allow it. Ceremony and ritual help us mark the passage of time and embrace the next steps ahead. In this riverside gathering, we’ll pause, reflect, and reconnect with ourselves through ritual, movement, and meditation.
What to Expect
Opening welcome + grounding meditation
We’ll begin with an element-focused welcome and a guided meditation to cultivate ease in the inevitability of change, accompanied by complimentary seasonal herbal tea.
Intention-setting ritual
A reflective practice to honor summer’s gifts and set intentions for the season ahead.
Slow-flow yoga practice (60 minutes)
A mindful movement practice designed to balance grounding and letting go, strength and surrender.
Closing contemplation
Space for journaling, reflection, and riverside connection, with prompts provided to carry into the new season.
What to Bring
A yoga mat and comfortable layers for the outdoor setting. Journals are welcome; note paper will also be provided.
Timing
The retreat begins promptly at 9:00am. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to settle in so we can begin together.
