SUMMARY:Free Flow: Yoga on Shore Thing
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the Last Splash with an autumn yoga session along the riverfront. This accessible\, all-levels practice invites you to slow down\, reconnect with yourself\, and take in the beauty of the river as the season shifts. Through gentle movement and mindful breathing\, we’ll make space to pause\, find balance\, and appreciate the places where land\, water\, and community meet. Bring your mat and join us by the water. \nEmily Balawejder is a longtime yoga and meditation practitioner and teacher who believes that movement can be a way of coming home to ourselves—and to the places around us. Her accessible\, thoughtful classes blend mindful movement\, breath\, and reflection\, creating space to slow down\, reconnect\, and notice what’s happening both within and around us. A Pittsburgh creative and longtime riverfront advocate\, Emily has always been drawn to the places where people\, nature\, and community intersect. Her yoga practice carries that same spirit: grounded\, curious\, welcoming\, and rooted in the belief that there is always an opportunity to pause\, breathe\, and begin again.

SUMMARY:The Last Splash
DESCRIPTION:With another incredible season of Shore Thing winding down\, we couldn’t wave goodbye without one Last Splash. \nThe Last Splash is our heartfelt farewell that celebrates the memories made along the Allegheny River this year and looks ahead to Shore Thing’s return next spring. Alongside live music (including the popular\, brass-driven Beauty Slap)\, food and drinks\, and family-friendly activities\, the day will also feature River Revel at Last Splash\, a participatory celebration of Pittsburgh’s rivers through puppetry\, pageantry\, music\, making\, and collective play developed by artist Cheryl Capezzuti and Shiftworks Community + Public Arts in collaboration with Riverlife. \nThroughout the afternoon\, visitors will be invited to try on and animate a collection of large-scale puppets\, including Cheryl’s existing work and new river-creature puppets created through community workshops. A drop-in make-and-take activity will give participants the chance to create simple river creatures of their own. The day will culminate in the Great River Creature Parade\, bringing together puppeteers\, musicians\, families\, artists\, and community participants for a joyful procession along the riverfront\, followed by a puppet dance party at Shore Thing. \nThe Last Splash will also feature the return of Catherine Trendz\, with artist and designer Imani Betts leading guests in making upcycled tote bags using recycled materials and eco-friendly art supplies. Additionally there will be a performance by Timbeleza\, Pittsburgh’s leading Brazilian Batucada (percussion) ensemble\, delivering powerful\, high-energy rhythms rooted in the samba traditions. \n\nSaturday\, October 10\, 2026 from 12 – 5 pm\nLive music and DJs throughout the day\nMake-and-take activity and puppet try-ons with Cheryl Capezzuti\nTimbeleza performance from 12 – 2 pm\nSustainable fashion tote bag station with Catherine Trendz from 12 – 3 pm\nBeauty Slap performance from 2 – 3:30 pm\nThe Great River Creature Parade starting at 3:00 pm\nDJ Inception after-party from 5 – 7 pm\n\nWhether you’re a regular visitor to Shore Thing or looking for an excuse to finally visit\, you’ll find something to love at the Last Splash.
